While economic greediness is reaching its climax, businesses with humanitarian goals are hard to find.
Rami Bitar, CEO of Tawfeer Supermarkets, is one of few entrepreneurs that made a tremendous effort in working on a well-put humanitarian agenda. Bitar played a remarkable role in Lebanon in assisting men, women, and children of all ages through the sponsorship of Tawfeer Supermarket.
Firstly, through Tawfeer Supermarkets, Rami Bitar took on a humanitarian step in sports in which Tawfeer sponsored the youth team of Al Safa Club. This sponsorship has helped more than 100 individuals with their training, travel expenses, and nutritional needs. It was also the main pillar in exposing players to international coaches and tournaments.
Secondly, Tawfeer Supermarkets became part of the UN Global Compact Network in Lebanon (GCNL), in which they work on uplifting the UN SDG and call for sustainability in businesses. Moreover, as part of their membership in GCNL, Tawfeer Supermarkets have supported more than 10,000 families in need through food parcels and electronic vouchers.
Thirdly, Tawfeer Supermarkets have played an influential role in Lebanese society as they have partnered with US AID’s campaigns to raise awareness about the importance of environmental sustainability. This partnership comes as part of the social responsibility that Tawfeer Supermarkets holds in front of society.
Fourthly, Tawfeer Supermarkets were one of the very last stores that gave Lebanese people the chance to pay 100% by Visa card for their groceries. Customers had the chance to do so up till the 6th of May. This initiative was regarded by many as thoughtful for those who can only afford to pay through their Visa cards.
Lastly, giving back to the community is a necessity for all businesses. Tawfeer Supermarkets were able to draw an example for all businesses on the importance of such initiatives. They were able to showcase the positive effects of being socially responsible can work in growing and promoting the brand. By sponsoring different projects and activities, Tawfeer Supermarkets were again the subject of attention for many Lebanese citizens.
