WHEREAS, Older Americans Month is a time to honor and celebrate the contributions, achievements, and wisdom of older adults who have enriched our lives and communities with their talents, experiences, and resilience; and
WHEREAS, older adults play a vital role in shaping the fabric of our society, serving as mentors, leaders, and role models, and sharing their knowledge, skills, and stories to inspire future generations and preserve our cultural heritage; and
WHERAS, Older Americans Month provides an opportunity to recognize the diverse and vibrant contributions of older adults in every aspect of society, including the arts, business, education, healthcare, philanthropy, and community service, and to celebrate their continued vitality, creativity, and passion for life; and
WHEREAS, older adults have demonstrated remarkable strength and resilience in overcoming challenges and adversity, adapting to change, and embracing new opportunities to lead fulfilling and meaningful lives, exemplifying the spirit of perseverance and optimism; and
WHEREAS, Older Americans Month underscores the importance of supporting and empowering older adults to age with dignity, independence, and respect, ensuring access to quality healthcare, social services, housing, transportation, and opportunities for lifelong learning, engagement, and participation in community life; and
WHEREAS, I call upon all Trumbull residents to join me in honoring and celebrating older adults and their invaluable contributions to our communities. Let us embrace the wisdom, experience, and vitality of older Americans and work together to create a more inclusive, supportive, and age-friendly society where everyone can thrive and live with dignity and purpose; and
NOW THEREFORE I, Vicki A. Tesoro, by virtue of the authority vested in me as First Selectman of the Town of Trumbull, Connecticut do hereby proclaim May 2024 as Older American Month.
